A new emotional experience where the lyrics of BTS's songs meet illustrations.

Moments when we suddenly gain insight or find comfort in music often come not only from the melody but also from the lyrics. Some lyrics carry substantial power on their own. Introducing the GRAPHIC LYRICS series, which expresses the emotions conveyed by music, especially lyrics, through illustrations and another story.

As a starting point, five songs by BTS are included in five illustrated books. Songs from the [YOU NEVER WALK ALONE] album (2017), the special album [화양연화 Young Forever] (2016), and more have each been published as separate books.

Taking the time to savor the lyrics, illustrations, and the stories they contain, one page at a time, at my own pace. This will offer a new visual and tactile experience and emotion about music that we have known until now.

"Together, We Can Smile"

The comfort and hope that seven boys share with each other.

In this series themed "Together, We Can Smile," seven boys share similar experiences and open their hearts to each other. This can be seen as a reinterpretation and extension of the BTS universe (BU), which has been consistently developed through various media such as music videos, the novel "花樣年華 THE NOTES 1 (HwaYangYeonHwa The Notes 1)," and the webtoon "화양연화 Pt.0" (Inspired by BU).

The stories of Volumes 1 to 5 exist separately yet are interconnected. In the first book, Volume 1 "A Supplementary Story: You Never Walk Alone," the scene of the seven boys meeting for the first time is warmly depicted through a split-panel storytelling format.

Just like encountering the notes on a musical score, there is a renewed sense of excitement when quietly flipping through the pages. GRAPHIC LYRICS encapsulates the sensitivity unique to paper books with five songs' lyrics and five illustrations, each produced in five different ways. Through this, we aim to propose another way for today's generation to enjoy music.

일러스트를 만나 선사하는 새로운 감동

우리가 음악에서 문득 깨달음을 얻거나 위로를 받는 순간은 멜로디뿐 아니라 종종 가사로부터 찾아오기도 한다. 어떤 노랫말은 그 자체로 묵직한 힘을 갖는다.
이처럼 음악, 특히 가사가 주는 감동을 전하는 방법으로, 노랫말을 일러스트 그리고 또 하나의 이야기와 함께 풀어내는 GRAPHIC LYRICS(그래픽 리릭스) 시리즈를 선보인다.

그 시작으로 방탄소년단의 다섯 곡 가사를 다섯 권의 그림책에 담았다. [YOU NEVER WALK ALONE](2017) 앨범에 수록된 , 스페셜 앨범 [화양연화 Young Forever](2016) 수록곡 와 , 미니 앨범 [화양연화 pt.2](2015) 등에 수록된 과 가 각각 동명의 책으로 출간되었다.
나만의 속도로 한 페이지, 한 페이지 음미하며 노랫말과 일러스트, 그에 담긴 이야기를 내 손으로 직접 어루만지는 시간. 이는 우리가 지금까지 알고 있던 음악에 관한 새로운 시각적, 촉각적 경험과 감동을 선사할 것이다.

“함께라면 웃을 수 있다”

일곱 소년이 서로에게 건네는
위로와 희망

‘함께라면 웃을 수 있다’를 주제로 한 이 시리즈에서는 일곱 소년이 비슷한 경험을 공유하고 마음을 나누는 모습을 이야기한다.
이는 그동안 알려진 방탄소년단의 몇몇 뮤직비디오는 물론, 소설 《花樣年華 THE NOTES 1(화양연화 더 노트 1)》, 웹툰 ‘화양연화 Pt.0 ’ 등으로 꾸준히 이어져 온 방탄소년단 세계관(BU)의 재해석 및 확장이라 할 수 있다(Inspired by BU).

이때 Vol.1~5의 스토리는 따로 또 같이 존재하면서 서로를 꿰어 잇는다. 첫 번째 도서인 Vol.1 《A Supplementary Story : You Never Walk Alone》에서는 일곱 명의 소년이 처음으로 다 같이 만나게 된 날의 풍경을 칸 분할 형식의 스토리텔링으로 따뜻하게 그려 냈다.
마치 악보의 도돌이표를 마주했을 때처럼, 가만히 돌아가 들여다보면 새삼스레 밀려오는 감흥이 있다. 다섯 곡의 가사, 다섯 가지 일러스트, 다섯 가지 제작 방식으로 종이책만의 감수성을 고스란히 담아낸 GRAPHIC LYRICS. 이를 통해 오늘의 우리가 음악을 향유하는 또 하나의 방식을 제안하고자 한다.
