Concerning My Daughter

A full-length novel by Kim Hye-jin. This is a story about women exposed to the violence of hatred and exclusion.

A mother—who also serves as the narrator—begins living under the same roof as her daughter and the daughter’s same-sex partner for financial reasons. Forced into “exposure” to her daughter’s private life, which she would rather turn away from, the mother finds herself unsettled, while the daughter has grown accustomed to a life at odds with the world. As their uneasy cohabitation continues, the mother’s everyday life takes an unexpected turn.

김혜진 장편소설. 혐오와 배제의 폭력에 노출되어 있는 여성들에 대한 이야기다. 엄마인 '나'와 딸, 그리고 딸의 동성 연인이 경제적 이유로 동거를 시작한다. 못내 외면하고 싶은 딸애의 사생활 앞에 '노출'된 엄마와 세상과 불화하는 삶이 일상이 되어 버린 딸. 이들의 불편한 동거가 이어지며 엄마의 일상은 예기치 못한 방향으로 흘러간다.
