Writers Kim Hana and Hwang Sunwoo return with a new book—this time, it's all about music. It all began with 『Two Women Are Living Together』, their previous book. The two authors, both born near the sea, once imagined opening a seaside bar together after retiring. They decided to start curating a playlist for that future bar. Taking the name from a nearby keychain labeled 『Hawaii Delivery,』 they began posting one or two songs daily on social media, alternating turns.

What started in the spring of 2017 continued—on and off—until early 2021, culminating in a massive playlist of 915 songs, totaling over 60 hours of music. Now, all of it is collected in the book Hawaii Delivery.

But 『Hawaii Delivery』 is far more than just a song list. It’s a bookshelf of music, brimming with the writers’ personalities—a book that feels like a year-round personal radio. Structured around a "365 days" concept, the book features daily music picks and accompanying reflections, distilling over four years of musical conversation into one volume.

As the authors explain, 『Hawaii Delivery』 isn't a carefully curated list of musical masterpieces. Rather, it’s "a daily moment of rest, and a conversation shared through music between two people living together, passing songs back and forth via a Bluetooth speaker.” It offers music that captures the flow of seasons, the joys of everyday life, and the magic of special days—offering each reader a track that feels like a recommendation from an old friend.

작가 김하나와 황선우가 새로운 책으로 돌아왔다. 이번엔 음악 이야기다. 시작은 『여자 둘이 살고 있습니다』였다. 바닷가가 고향인 두 작가가 언젠가 은퇴하고 바를 연다면, 그곳에서 흘러나올 플레이리스트를 모아두기로 한 것. 당시 옆에 있던 키링에서 이름을 따와 ‘하와이 딜리버리’라 이름 붙이고 SNS에 번갈아 매일 한두 곡씩을 올렸다. 2017년 봄에 시작한 리스트는 사이사이 쉬기도 하면서 2021년 초까지 이어졌다. 그렇게 915곡이 쌓여 60시간이 넘는 방대한 플레이리스트가 완성된 것이다. 그 모든 기록이 『하와이 딜리버리』라는 책으로 세상에 나왔다.

『하와이 딜리버리』는 단순한 선곡집이 아니다. 두 작가의 취향이 넘실거리는 음악 책장, 1년 내내 들을 수 있는 라디오 같은 책이다. 오랜 시간에 걸쳐 하루 한 곡씩 선곡한 음악과 그에 대한 추천 글을 365일 콘셉트로 구성해, 4년여의 음악 대화를 압축해 담았다. “하와이 딜리버리는 한 곡 한 곡 작품성을 평가하며 수집한 감상용 목록이 아”니다. “하루 한 곡씩의 휴식이자, 한집에 살며 블루투스 스피커를 공유하는 두 사람이 음악으로 주고받은 대화”다. 계절의 흐름과 일상의 기쁨, 특별한 날의 순간들을 음악으로 전하며, 오래된 친구의 추천처럼 편안하게 독자의 하루에 어울리는 음악을 건넨다.
