Lie Concierge

The 《Lie Concierge》 is filled with eleven stories that let the irritations of complicated relationships and trivial daily stresses simply drift away.

The title story follows an ordinary office worker—“I”—who suddenly acquires the ability to lie with extraordinary effectiveness, and the series of episodes involving the people who become entangled while helping (or being helped by) this strange talent. Other stories feature a female employee who vents her stress in an unusual way; a working mother exhausted by housework and her job who visits “that place” every day; a mysterious woman who keeps appearing in company group photos; and a junior employee troubled after being entrusted with one final request from a superior on the verge of retirement.

In unpredictable days like these, there are no clear answers. We simply endure, one day at a time. Yet the sight of people managing to live on in their own ways is undeniably empowering—a makeshift remedy, perhaps, but a remedy nonetheless. What we need right now may be just a day’s worth of a “lie” to get us through today, and a small measure of courage to put into action. The 《Lie Concierge》 takes on the lingering worries of our uneasy everyday lives and offers practical prescriptions for turning days of crisis into something more positive.

《거짓말 컨시어지》는 귀찮은 인간관계와 사소한 스트레스를 흘려보내는 11편의 이야기로 가득하다. 표제작은, 졸지에 거짓말 능력자가 된 회사원 ‘나’와, 이를 돕다 함께 휘말린 사람들의 에피소드. 이어지는 편은, 특이한 방식으로 스트레스를 발산하는 여직원의 일탈. 살림과 일에 지쳐 매일 ‘그곳’을 찾는 워킹 맘과 회사 단체 사진에 자꾸만 찍히는 정체불명의 여자. 그리고 정년퇴직을 앞둔 상사의 마지막 부탁을 떠맡고 고민에 빠진 후배….
