Kim Geum-hee, an author known for her exploration of the depths of the human psyche since beginning her career in 2009, has published her third essay collection. This book follows her highly praised novel 《The Great Greenhouse Repair Report》, which was released in 2024, and contains her experiences during her stay in Antarctica. Kim Geum-hee shared that she wanted to experience the awe of nature in places devoid of human civilization and sought humility through prolonged stay rather than mere tourism. After persistent efforts, she was able to visit an Antarctic base as a special reporter and, after undergoing various training, arrived in Antarctica on February 1, 2024. During her month-long stay at the King Sejong Station, she interviewed researchers and explored the flora and fauna of the region, recording the insights she gained in this essay collection.

김금희 작가는 2009년부터 활동을 시작해 인간 내면의 깊이를 탐구하는 작품을 써온 작가로, 세 번째 산문집을 출간했다. 이 책은 2024년 발표된 장편소설 《대온실 수리 보고서》로 주목받은 후, 남극 체류기를 담고 있다. 김금희는 인간과 문명이 없는 자연에서의 경이로움을 경험하고, ‘관광’이 아닌 오랜 체류를 통해 겸손해지기를 원했다고 밝혔다. 남극 기지 방문은 오랜 시도 끝에 특별 취재기자로서 가능해졌고, 여러 훈련을 거쳐 2024년 2월 1일 남극에 도달했다. 한 달간 남극 세종 기지에서 동식물과 연구자들을 취재하며 얻은 깨달음을 이 산문집에 기록했다.
