The Essential 1 - by Han Kang 2024 Nobel Prize Winner, Paperback

A special edition of "The Essential," which curates the artist's core works and combines them into one volume. The Essential Korean Writers' Edition, released by Munhak, selects writers who became sensational in Korean literature by giving readers an intense reading experience under the keyword "sensation."

The first writer is Han Kang. For the past 30 years since her debut in 1993, she has written various genres of works that face the fundamental questions that literature poses to life: how humans trust and love each other, why is the world so beautiful and cruel at the same time, and what can humans do in the face of loss and pain. In addition to novels and poems, she has continuously published fairy tales for adults, collections of prose that contain her own songs and writings, and collections of poems and novels. She has also expanded her space outside of text by continuing to work on visual performances through media art.

She became the first Korean to win the International Booker Prize and the first Asian writer to participate in the Norwegian Future Library project, becoming a sensation and symbol of Korean literature across borders.

한국인 최초로 인터내셔널 부커상을 수상했으며, 아시아 최초로 노르웨이 ‘미래 도서관’ 프로젝트 참여 작가로 선정되는 등의 쾌거를 이루며 국경을 넘어 한국문학의 센세이션이자 상징인 이름이 된 그를 ‘디 에센셜 한국작가 편’의 첫번째 작가로 선보인다.
