Korean Edition [Once There Was a Bear: Tales of Before It All Began]

1926년 처음 세상에 나온 《곰돌이 푸》의 출간 100주년을 맞아 선보이는 공식 프리퀄이다. 전 세계 72개 언어로 번역된 원작의 세계를 바탕으로, 푸와 친구들이 백에이커 숲에 오기 전 어떤 시간을 보냈고 크리스토퍼 로빈과 어떻게 만나게 되었는지를 새롭게 들려준다.

제인 리오던이 글을 쓰고 마크 버지스가 그림을 맡아 원작의 문체와 그림 분위기를 이어 갔다. 푸가 해로즈 백화점에서 크리스토퍼 로빈의 집으로 오게 된 이야기, 이요르가 이름을 얻는 과정 등을 담았으며, 한국어판은 김난령이 번역하고 작품 탄생 배경을 짚는 옮긴이의 말과 원작자 소개를 함께 실었다.

This is the official prequel published to celebrate the 100th anniversary of 《Winnie-the-Pooh》, first released in 1926. Set in the world of the original work, which has been translated into 72 languages worldwide, it tells a new story about what Pooh and his friends were doing before they arrived in the Hundred Acre Wood and how they first met Christopher Robin.

Written by Jane Riordan and illustrated by Mark Burgess, the book carries on the original work’s writing style and illustration aesthetic. It includes the story of how Pooh traveled from Harrods department store to Christopher Robin’s home, as well as how Eeyore got his name. The Korean edition, translated by Kim Nan-ryeong, also includes a translator’s note exploring the background behind the book’s creation and an introduction to the original author.
