1945, during the Japanese occupation of Korea.
The largest eruption in recorded history strikes Mount Baekdu, throwing the Korean Peninsula into chaos. As scientists predict a series of even more devastating eruptions that could engulf both North and South Korea, an unprecedented mission is launched to prevent a catastrophic disaster.
Jeon Yoo-kyung devises an operation based on the theory of geologist Professor Kang Bong-rae, who has spent years studying volcanic activity at Mount Baekdu. Special Forces EOD Captain Jo In-chang, who is about to complete his military service, is assigned to a secret mission that could determine the fate of the entire peninsula.
During the operation, In-chang successfully makes contact with Ri Joon-pyeong, a high-ranking North Korean operative who holds the key to the mission. However, Joon-pyeong's unpredictable actions constantly place the mission at risk.
Meanwhile, Choi Ji-young, In-chang's wife, remains in Seoul unaware of the dangerous operation unfolding in North Korea and struggles to survive amid the escalating disaster.
As the countdown to the final eruption begins, the team must overcome impossible odds to save millions of lives before time runs out.
