That winter, the speed at which misfortune overtook me was faster than the speed at which I cleared hurdles. Seoyeon (Choi Ye-bin), a promising high school hurdler, trains hard with the dream of joining a professional track team, supported by her only family—her father (Kim Young-jae).

One day, she receives a phone call: her father, a long-haul truck driver, has lost consciousness on the road due to a stroke.

As his only guardian, Seoyeon is unable to cover the hospital expenses because she is still a minor. In desperation, she borrows money from relatives, writing an IOU promising to repay it once she joins a professional team.

However, Coach Park (Lee Joong-ok) announces that instead of Seoyeon, her friend and rival Min-jung (Kwon Hee-song), who placed first in the competition, will be the one to join the team.

Pushed to the edge, Seoyeon ultimately makes an irreversible choice…
