80년대 일본 작가주의 영화를 대표하는 감독, 소마이 신지의 대표작 <태풍클럽> 각본집이 출간된다. 1985년작 <태풍클럽>은 청소년기의 불안과 에너지를 변화무쌍한 여름날씨에 비유한 걸작이다. 최근 소마이 신지의 작품들이 4K로 복원되며 국제적인 위상이 높아지고 있다. 한국에서도 <태풍클럽>을 비롯해 <이사>, <여름정원>이 연달아 정식개봉하며 다양한 세대의 시네필에게 많은 찬사를 받았다.

The screenplay book for <Typhoon Club>, one of the signature works by Shinji Sōmai, a director who represents the auteur cinema of 1980s Japan, is now being published. Released in 1985, <Typhoon Club> is a masterpiece that likens the anxiety and energy of adolescence to the ever-changing weather of summer. In recent years, Sōmai’s films have gained greater international recognition as his works have undergone 4K restoration. In Korea, <Typhoon Club>, <Moving>, and <The Summer Garden> have been officially released one after another, earning widespread acclaim from cinephiles across generations.

『Typhoon Club Screenplay: The Auteur Cinema of Shinji Sōmai』 was published to commemorate the 4K restoration of <Typhoon Club>. It explores Shinji Sōmai through the perspectives of various figures from the world of cinema, including Yuki Kudo, one of the film’s lead actors at the time, as well as Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Ryūtarō Ninomiya, and Danbi Yoon. The book also features a range of essays offering different perspectives on <Typhoon Club> and, above all, includes the film’s original screenplay, adding further depth and resonance to the lasting impression of the work.
